today is andraya's 21st birthday and i am LOVING being in charleston with her & all of our other friends to celebrate! i am now down to FOUR days until i leave! currently there is MAJOR flooding and volcano action in guatemala. the guatemala city airport has been closed until tomorrow, and then they will start letting commercial flights back into that region of the country. the villiages by the Oasis, where I'll be living and working have been severely damaged by all of this havoc, so we're praying for successful travel and safety for all the girls living there! i am HOPING that my flight doesn't get delayed any in the next four days!
tomorrow it's home, and then PACK PACK PACK! :)

that shade of brrronzeee.
as many of you know, i LOVE to be tan. i could lay on the beach or by the pool all day long. i could swim around or kayak or anything that's out in the sun. i love love love summertime, especially because of that "summer glow" that we all get for 4 months of the year. well, lately, as i've been soaking up all the time that i have here on the beach i've been asking myself...why do i like this tan? or the time spent outside? oh wait i know..because "everyone looks better with a tan" or as my mom likes to say, "tan fat looks better than white fat". so basically, i'm just LOOOVING this tan stuff for myself. and only myself. for the glorification of worldly beauty and making myself happy. so, tonight, while i was in the shower, i was reminded of
Philippians 2:3- "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit."
For this summer, I want this to be my prayer. i want to remind myself that this internship and opportunity isn't all about me, or how it's going to make me look. because, seriously, the phrase, "i'm going to guatemala for 2 months to serve and teach orphaned children." sounds pretty selfless. so pray that i am really able to separate myself from that thought process and not focus on what's going to make me look like the better christian girl, or having the "coolest" summer job. but that i would sincerely focus on the things that the Lord is trying to TEACH me. like patience, humility, grace. The Lord's hand is already so evident in every step of this process, from, giving me the passion & Corbey moving there. and needing the funds, and providing me with such selfless and generous people who love me to support my passions.
as i update you on the fun and exciting things that i'm experiencing, i would also like to ask you to please support me through prayer whether it's struggles or praise to the Lord for the WONDERFUL things HE has done!

9 Days!
Helloooo! It's 10:38am and I'm happily sitting on my couch in Murrells Inlet! Hoorah! Nikki is here visiting with me for a few days, cause it's the last time we'll hang out for a LOOOONG time. (Ya know...her St. Louis-ing n' everything!).
For the last month or so, I've been preparing financially for my trip. I've finally gotten all the money needed raised through support letters and yard sales! Thank you to everyone who has participated in these two fundraisers! I am truly so so blessed to have you in my life and I'm so thankful for your contributions as well as commitments to pray for me over these next few months!
Lately, I've been getting in paperwork to Kids Alive before I leave-oof. hope i get everything! :)
